Born in Mexico City
in 1956. He is also a German citizen since
2010. He began his music studies with 19 at
the Escuela Nacional de Música,
although the conservatism of this
institution led him to distance himself from
formal academy. A contemporary polymath, he
devoted himself to artistic handicrafts, and
sonic and visual arts both analogue and
digital. He studied music analysis, theory
and composition, antique-restoration
techniques (UNAM MX), piano construction and
voicing (USA and Bösendorfer, AU), analogue
photography (MX, AU) and digital video
production (DE). Nowadays he explores in
various fields: video-scoring, video
performance, Video Art, Artificial
Intelligence and imaginative processes, and
drawing. The mixture of Gestalt (as
metatheory), artistic handicrafts, digital
technology and community interactions color
his career to date. He lives and works
mainly in Berlin, Germany. His vast and
diverse work has been
solicited in several countries

Carlos Sandoval es un artista
multidisciplinar
internacionalmente activo, nacido en la Ciudad de
México en 1956. (También es ciudadano
alemán desde 2010). Inició sus estudios
musicales a los 19 años en la Escuela
Nacional de Música, aunque el
conservadurismo de esta institución le
llevó a distanciarse de la academia
formal. Polímata contemporáneo, se
dedicó a la artesanía artística y a las
artes sonoras y visuales tanto
analógicas como digitales. Estudió
análisis, teoría y composición musical,
técnicas de restauración de antigüedades
(UNAM MX), construcción y sonorización
de pianos (USA y Bösendorfer, AU),
fotografía analógica (MX, AU) y
producción de video digital (DE).
Actualmente explora en diversos campos:
video-scoring, video performance, video-arte, Inteligencia
Artificial/procesos
imaginativos, y dibujo. La mezcla de
Gestalt (como metateoría), artesanía
artística, tecnología digital e
interacciones comunitarias colorean su
carrera hasta la fecha. Vive y trabaja
principalmente en Berlín, Alemania. Su
obra, vasta y diversa, ha sido solicitada en países
diversos.
Carlos Sandoval ist ein international
tätiger multidisziplinärer Künstler (geboren
1956 in Mexiko-Stadt). Seit 2010 ist er auch
deutscher Staatsbürger. Er begann sein
Musikstudium mit 19 Jahren an der Escuela
Nacional de Música, obwohl der
Konservatismus dieser Institution ihn dazu
brachte, sich von der formalen Akademie zu
distanzieren. Als zeitgenössischer
Universalgelehrter widmete er sich dem
Kunsthandwerk, der Klang- und Bildkunst,
sowohl analog als auch digital. Er studierte
Musikanalyse, -theorie und -komposition,
antike Restaurierungstechniken (UNAM MX),
Klavierbau und Intonation (USA und
Bösendorfer, AU), analoge Fotografie (MX,
AU) und digitale Videoproduktion (DE). Heute
erforscht er verschiedene Bereiche:
Video-Scoring, Videoperformance, Videokunst,
künstliche Intelligenz und imaginative
Prozesse sowie Zeichnen. Die Mischung aus
Gestalt (als Metatheorie), künstlerischem
Handwerk, digitaler Technologie und
gemeinschaftlicher Interaktion prägen seinen
bisherigen Werdegang. Er lebt und arbeitet
hauptsächlich in Berlin, Deutschland. Sein
umfangreiches und vielfältiges Oeuvre wurde in mehreren Ländern
ausgestellt.
